I'm a self-proclaimed zymologist, and in an effort to explore ingredients and recipes, I love to try beer! I developed this blog out of originally composing long reviews by hand in a composition based notebook. Realizing its impracticality I moved to the internet, in which I could touch a wider public opinion. Having been to Africa, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand, I've already had the opportunity to taste beer from around the world. I recently graduated from Augustana College with a biology degree with an emphasis on Microbiology. I worked at Great River Brewery in Davenport, IA right out of college and remained there for over a year. While there, I learned a tremendous amount of what it takes to be a part of the brewing industry, from cellaring, packaging and eventually working up to becoming a brewer. Today, I am fortunate enough to be a part of team at New Holland Brewing Co., where fermentation is an Art. While not only brewing, I'm auspicious enough to have the opportunity to learn all aspects of a greater scale production operation. I love it. I'm an avid runner (LogaRun.com), environmentalist and foodie - eating primarily local, organic and self-made-fermented foods/beverages (Kefir, Kvass, Kombucha, Saurkraut, Mead, Braggot and Beer and many others). Ultimately, I created this blog because I am extremely enthusiastic about beer and want to continue to develop both your palate, and my own. So, things aside, these are the Beer to Try!
